I am SO excited for this! I've recently started planning a career change into the mental health field and desire to push for normalization and study of cannabis and other psychoactives as treatment aids in my eventual practice. I'm also a long time medicinal user of cannabis, fully believe in the grounding/restorative properties of psilocybin, and enjoy every opportunity I can get to educate myself on plant-based healing properties in general. I'm really looking forward to what each speaker will bring!

  4. Been talking to a few folx and wondering if anyone's up for a mini-gathering? Im thinking super chill, small group, low key, no pressure, just to meet up and hang out, share some info about weed! I'm thinking like... Self-care Sunday? or a high happy hour monday? @River Katz has offered to come and do portraits if we do, since they couldn't make it to the Oz event. Would most likely take place somewhere laid back in NE/SE portland. What do you think?

  14. Call To Action! For great people who are looking for good industrial farming experience, to help us plant 250 acres of hemp. Dates: June 15- 20 2019 (UPDATED!). It is a 4 day planting session. Location: Burns, Oregon. Its is 2.5 hrs east of Bend, and 2.5 hrs west of Boise ID. Pay: $20 per hour. We are looking to identify 5 more people to help plant seedlings. We will need your commitment for 3 nights and 4 days. An 8-hour planting shift is required each day, with an option for 1-2 additional hours helping with the logistics of each days planting. We are planting with a 7 seat/row transplanter behind a tractor, so this is not manual hand-planting 250 acres. That being said, a person has to have the ability, comfort and stamina to sit and place plants from a tray into a planter wheel, with short intervals every 15-20 minutes, to get down off the seat for some movement and reload trays. This is a 1000 acre farm, and our family lives in a trailer in the middle. We will have food catered in twice a day and place to sit and relax. We have room to tent here on the farm. We will have showers available and porta-potties available. Burns is a small town so there are few hotels in town, and they are inexpensive. We are working this farm with a few Mennonite families, and the high desert is very beautiful. We are only 10 minutes from Crane Hot Springs, and its only $10 to soak! The lack of research combined with decades of misleading propaganda has put moms in the most difficult position of deciding if cannabis is safe for them and their families. Mothers are uncertain as to whether cannabis use is OK during pregnancy and breastfeeding and we often feel shame or hide our use. We say NO MORE SHAME! Let's open up conversations to break down the stigmas! Tokeativity Canna Mamas aims to open up deep conversation and connection between women interested in cannabis and parenthood. It is time to get together to connect, learn and create a community of Canna Mamas who can learn, discuss and support one another to set some standards for how cannabis can be used as a parent. All women are welcome who are interested in this conversation - you do not need to be a mother to attend! RESERVE YOUR SPOT NOW!

  21. One of Oregon’s only cannabis events permitting public consumption tempted crowds this summer with chocolates, kombucha, tinctures and other edibles amid a feel-good vibe. The sold-out Oregon Cannabis Association Summer Fair, July 28 in Portland, showcased the diversity, craftmanship and expertise of the state’s cannabis community, putting names and faces to a growing variety of cannabis brands. Small, family-run businesses were strongly represented among the 54 vendors — growers, processors, edible manufacturers, analytics testing labs and others — a t the third annual event. Georgia voters overwhelmingly approved a marijuana legalization ballot measure by a margin of 80 percent to 20 percent. The results of the nonbinding question on the Democratic ballot don’t immediately change state law, but they send a strong message to legislators. South Dakota’s secretary of state confirmed that activists submitted enough signatures to place a marijuana legalization initiative on the November ballot. Voters already approved legalization in 2020 but it was overturned in court. 24. Monica Lo, chef, photographer & creator of cannabis food blog Sousweed Did you know that 3 out of 4 women in the U.S. have access to legal cannabis? Yet buying weed can still be intimidating. In case you don’t have a friend you can bring with you to a dispensary, Monica Lo is the California based chef, photographer & creator of cannabis food blog Sousweed, shares her story to help you feel more comfortable. Transcript below. LISTEN ON APPLE PODCASTS | STITCHER | OVERCAST | POCKET CASTS | SPOTIFY | iHEART LINKS Monica Lo of Sousweed CREDITS Host: Ellen Lee Scanlon Producer: Nick Patri Brand manager: Madi Fair TRANSCRIPT FOR DO THE POT EPISODE 100 Ellen Lee Scanlon (00:00): This podcast discusses cannabis and is intended for audiences 21 and over. Ellen Lee Scanlon (00:07): Welcome to How to Do the Pot, a podcast demystifying cannabis for women. I'm Ellen Scanlon. On these short episodes, we share women's stories about the first time they bought legal weed. I hope they bring a little fun and a new perspective into your week. In honor of National Dessert Day, which is today, we partnered with Monica Lo, a California based chef and creator of the food blog, Sous Weed, to bring you some delicious honey shortbread cookies made with cannabis infused sous weed honey to go with your bedtime tea. You can see it all on Instagram @dothepot and @sousweed. That's S-O-U-S-W-E-E-D. And stay tuned for How to Do the Pot's upcoming episodes about cannabis and sleep, and how these yummy cookies maybe just what you need for a better night's rest. Monica Lo (00:59): The first time I bought legal weed was with my California Medical Cannabis card that I had gotten when I had my back injury. My roommate and I, at the time, went to stock up on all the goods at our local neighborhood dispensary, just to try a bunch of things for pain management. We went inside. The interior of the shop was done up like the cigar lounge, and it had really nice warm tones, and woods, and leather, so it felt cozy, and not sketchy, at all. There was this epic menu with different flowers and edibles. And, to be honest, I felt it was a little intimidating, especially the first time being in a dispensary. I didn't know what I was reading. But this was back in the day, where it was okay to ask for the jars, and you could open it up and smell all the different strains. I remember I really enjoyed doing that, and I learned a lot that way too. Monica Lo (02:00): I wound up taking home a bag of trim to use in my sous weed experiments, because it was much cheaper to use trim than purchasing all the premium flour. I also bought some chocolates and macaroons to try out, as well. I remember when I was checking out, they dropped in some free brownies into my bag. I don't think it's allowed these days, but I remember taking them home and trying them, and they were so gross, and so stale. Yeah, that was nasty. Homemade, for sure, definitely is where it's at. Ellen Lee Scanlon (02:43): Thanks for listening to this episode of How to Do the Pot. If you'd like to share your story about the first time you bought legal weed, please send a voice memo to hi@dothepot.com, or DM us @dothepot. For lots more information, and past episodes, visit dothepot.com. And that's also where you can sign up for How to Do the Pot's newsletter, which comes out every other Friday. 26. A bipartisan coalition of congressional lawmakers on Thursday reintroduced legislation that would federally legalize medical marijuana for military veterans. The bill is being sponsored by Reps. Barbara lee (D-CA) and Dave Joyce (R-OH), both co-chairs of the Congressional Cannabis Caucus, in the House, along with nine other original cosponsors. On the Senate side, Sen. Brian Schatz (D-HI) is leading the proposal, and he’s joined by five other lawmakers, including Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT). The Veterans Medical Marijuana Safe Harbor Act would temporarily allow veterans to legally possess and use cannabis under federal law, as recommended by doctors in accordance with state law. Physicians with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) would also be allowed for the first time to issue such recommendations. Further, it would require VA to study the therapeutic potential of marijuana for pain and reducing opioid misuse. Currently, VA allows its physicians to talk about cannabis use with veterans, but they’re prohibited from issuing recommendations that would allow them to obtain marijuana from state-legal markets. Earlier versions of the companion bills were introduced in the last two Congresses but did not advance. With Democrats in control of both chambers and the White House this session, however, there’s renewed optimism that these types of cannabis proposals could move in 2021. “It has been scientifically proven that medical marijuana has a considerable impact in treating conditions common with veterans when they return from service, like chronic pain and PTSD,” Lee said in a press release. “This legislation will empower veterans and their doctors to make informed decisions about the use of medical marijuana to treat chronic conditions in states with legal medical marijuana programs without federal interference.” Joyce said that there’s “a growing body of evidence about the beneficial uses of medical cannabis as treatment for PTSD and chronic pain, two terrible conditions that plague many of our veterans.” “If a state has made it legal, like Ohio has, the federal government should not be preventing a VA doctor from recommending medical cannabis if they believe that treatment is right for their patient,” he said. “I’m proud to join my colleagues in introducing this important bill and will continue to do everything in my power to ensure we are providing our veterans with the care they need to overcome the wounds of war.” For the fiscal years 2022 and 2023, the bill would set aside $15 million for VA to administer the policy change. The legalization and physician recommendation provisions of the legislation would expire after five years, unless renewed by Congress. “In 36 states, doctors and their patients have the option to use medical marijuana to manage pain—unless those doctors work for the VA and their patients are veterans,” Schatz said. “This bill protects veteran patients in these states and gives their VA doctors the option to prescribe medical marijuana to veterans, and it also promises to shed light on how medical marijuana can help with the nation’s opioid epidemic.” — Marijuana Moment is already tracking more than 1,000 cannabis, psychedelics and drug policy bills in state legislatures and Congress this year. Patreon supporters pledging at least $25/month get access to our interactive maps, charts and hearing calendar so they don’t miss any developments. Learn more about our marijuana bill tracker and become a supporter on Patreon to get access. — Supporters of the proposal include the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, VoteVets, Minority Veterans of America, Veterans Cannabis Coalition, Veterans Cannabis Project, Veterans for Medical Cannabis Access, National Cannabis Industry Association, NORML, National Cannabis Roundtable, U.S. Pain Foundation, Drug Policy Alliance, Americans for Safe Access, Students for Sensible Drug Policy, Veteran’s Initiative, Arizona Dispensary Association, California Cannabis Industry Association and Hawaii Cannabis Industry Association. While this reform would constitute a significant policy change for veterans, there are also plans in the works to more broadly end federal marijuana prohibition. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said this week that a bill to federally legalize marijuana that he’s planning to introduce alongside Senate Finance Chairman Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) will be brought to the floor of his chamber “soon.” On the House side, Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) said recently that he plans to reintroduced his legalization bill, the Marijuana Opportunity, Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act, which cleared the chamber last year but did not advance in the Senate under GOP control. 27. Spring time is finally here, and is blooming with possibilities! So much has happened in the world since last spring, and this month we’ll finally get a chance to replant the seeds for how we want the next 365 days to bud and blossom for ourselves. Here’s a hint—let your life be a mirror to your deepest dreams. Truly let your waking life take a hint from your dreamworld. With Mercury, Venus, and Neptune in Pisces, our creativity bubbles to the top, putting us collectively into what artists call “the flow”. With Mars moving into Gemini on March 3, we may have to figure out how to act with logic while exploring the depths of beauty in absurdity. Saturn square Uranus will keep us asking “is this the time to do the wild thing, or the responsible thing?”, and what it could look like to merge the two. Don’t worry, you were built for this! Read on for your High Horoscopes March 2021. ARIES Happy Birthday, Aries! Your season always coincides with the beginning of spring, so prepare for life to feel extra warm and energetic near March 20. Until then, however, you may want to take some moments of reflection and relaxation to prepare for this rebirthing season. Let your creative juices flow via the art form of your choice: music, coloring, cannabis-fueled comedic improv poetry—anything’s game! The point is to soften down any tension in the heart and let what comes up, just come up. Surrender to the mystery! Plant Ally: Bubblegum Kush—to put you in touch with your inner child. TAURUS Lean on me! This month is about leaning into your friends, associates, and whoever you consider “community” to help you get things done. There’s a loving heartfelt energy that happens when you connect with groups and people of like mind to share thoughts, ideas, and goals. Don’t be afraid to tap your networks, whether you’re asking for help or just need some good old motivation to keep yourself buoyed. You need it! Plant Ally: Girl Scout Cookies—they’re always better when you share. GEMINI It’s time to lock in and get loaded career-wise, Gemini. You’ll have a lot of extra heat and energy to burn, and it may be beneficial to divert that toward planning your next soul-driven career move. Have you gotten off track lately? Do you need to get back with yourself and dream into your goals a little more? For example, “make $600 extra income a month” is a goal, but “create an online course to help female cannabis entrepreneurs thrive” is one with a little more soul—and it can contribute to the first goal! Add some soul back into your work. Plant Ally: Space Queen—to help you tap in deeper. CANCER Oh, the places love takes us! Your scope is global and your vibe is adventurous this month, Cancer. You’re overdue for some mind-expanding, earth-shattering, spirit-uplifting experiences, and this March will give you an opportunity to have at it! Some safe and responsible travel may do the trick, and if not, learning or trying something that you’ve always wanted to do but haven’t will light the wick in your candle. Get experimental and fall in love with the process. Plant Ally: …ever tried Mushrooms? If that’s not on your menu, go for the yummy and slightly psychedelic Blue Dream strain. LEO Cue the “inspector gadget” theme song, because this month you’ll be doing some deep diving into parts of yourself that need further investigation. Getting to know yourself deeper through sexual exploration, conversations with therapists, and hardcore emotional vulnerability. Just trust that there’s more power for you to claim in some way this month, and that It’s okay to do this just for yourself, outside of the eyes and judgments of others. Plant Ally: Northern Lights—to help you see the lantern of light inside yourself. VIRGO It’s Pisces season; the season of your opposite sign, which speaks to acceptance, allowance, and surrendering to the “other”. This month may seem like it’s telling you repeatedly to “lean not on your own understanding”, and that may be the medicine you need. Take others’ advice, trust others’ wisdom, and don’t feel like you’ve got to go it alone. Themes of partnership, relationship, and love may pop up for you, and please, by all means, explore. Plant Ally: Strawberry Cough—to help surrender yourself to the love others have to give you. LIBRA Dust the cobwebs, drink your water, stretch that body into a releasing yoga pose. You’ve been working on getting more organized and purified in small little ways for a while now, and it’s time to bring it all together with a truly wholesome and healthy routine. Cut back on distractions, and focus on how your daily lifestyle supports your work goals. Do they? If not, clean the house and make a beautiful work/life schedule that you can stick to. Alexa, can you remind me to reward myself after I work hard? Plant Ally: Mr. Clean—a lovely, perky varietal. SCORPIO Have you ever experienced the full, unabashed, unbridled joy of Sisqo’s 1999 smash hit “The Thong Song”? Like…really. Have you heard the pure bliss in this man’s voice as he croons about the joys of women’s undergarments? How Sisqo feels about thongs, you should feel about life this month, Scorp. You’ve got a cosmic green light to indulge in pleasure, play, and fun. I dare you to turn on the song and go HAM in the mirror 5 minutes a day, every day this month. You’ll be a happier person. Plant Ally: Orangeade—for a citrusy burst of sunshine. SAGITTARIUS This month is an introverted one, Sag, with matters of home and family taking center stage. Your internal world is asking for a moment of focus and attention right now, and matters of the heart are of the utmost importance. Wrap yourself up like a little centaur burrito and love on your body, your mind, and your soul. Take it easy, and decide on doing 3 things each day that nourish you –truly nourish you. Start with deep breathing. The rest will flow up from you. Plant Ally: OGKB—for rest, rest, rest. CAPRICORN With all of this psychic stuff happening in the sky, you’re going to want to stay open and curious about life right now, Cap. Sometimes coincidences happen, but sometimes they are clearly messages from the cosmos that help us make our next steps in alignment. Let yourself be an antenna for those “synchronicities” as they’re called, and play some manifestation games to practice weaving a stitch of your own into the fabric of reality. Life really is magical; so give yourself the opportunity to see it with your own eyes. Plant Ally: Damiana—a cleanser to the 3rd eye. AQUARIUS Welcome back from the Wild Wild West, Aquarius! So many planets were piled up in your sign last month, we wonder how you made it out okay! Either way, this is not the month to integrate the lessons of February into your life forever. What were the 3 biggest themes, adjectives, or breakthroughs you had? Did any of your fundamental values change? If so, identify them and swear them into your life for the 2021 and beyond term (write. them. down!). Evolution and reflection are bestest friends. Plant Ally: Watermelon Kush—for deep, sweet reflection. PISCES Rise and shine, Mermaids! Congratulations on making it through last month with your soul intact. March is a great time to tap into yourself and the parts of you that make you unique. Being comfortable with stepping out on your own as a lone wolf for once really give you a dose of refreshed energy. Do you for a while, without putting too much pressure on yourself to deliver as people expect you to. Hold onto yourself FIRST and this month will be invigorating.
