The Nebraska Supreme Court removed a medical marijuana measure from November’s ballot.

Rep. Don Young (R-AK) became the third Republican lawmaker to confirm he will vote for a bill to federally legalize marijuana on the House floor this month.

The Food and Drug Administration is hosting a meeting next week to help marijuana growers and cannabis-based drug developers learn how to use “Drug Master Files” to protect their proprietary trade secrets from competitors.

Legalization advocates are calling out Twitter for a new feature that directs people to drug treatment services when they search for “marijuana” on the platform while no such notification is associated with alcohol-related searches.

/ FEDERAL

House Democratic leaders are reportedly considering reneging on a plan to bring a marijuana legalization bill to the floor this month after some vulnerable lawmakers expressed frustration about heading into the elections with a cannabis message and a recent whip count showed “faltering support” for the measure.

Sens. Chris Coons (D-DE), Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Mike Lee (R-UT) filed a bill to eliminate the blanket presumption of pretrial detention for most federal drug charges.

Several members of Congress spoke at the National Cannabis Policy Summit.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) authored an op-ed that slams House Democrats for “granting banking perks to the cannabis industry” in their coronavirus relief bill.

Rep. Frank Pallone (D-NJ) tweeted, “Marijuana legalization is on the ballot in New Jersey in November. Glad to see activists organizing voters to support this racial and criminal justice initiative.”

Rep. Lou Correa (D-CA) tweeted, “Right now, more than half of Americans have legal access to Cannabis. It’s time our federal laws represented this reality.”

The Senate bill to deschedule marijuana and fund programs to repair the harms of the war on drugs got one new cosponsor for a total of six.

Pennsylvania’s lieutenant governor tweeted, “Last year, nearly 22,000 people in PA were arrested for having <30 grams of cannabis. Imagine how we could better devote that time and those resources, instead of prosecuting Pennsylvanians for something most of us don’t even think should be illegal.”

New Jersey’s Senate president tweeted, “Allowing the voters of New Jersey to have a direct say on the legalization of marijuana this fall will offer them the chance to bring social justice and equality directly into their communities. It is time to allow the residents of New Jersey to weigh in on this issue.”

The Michigan House of Representatives approved a bill allowing veterinarians to consult with pet owners about CBD and medical cannabis treatments.

Illinois regulators stopped responding to requests for marijuana dispensary license application scorecards as greater scrutiny is being placed on the process.

A Tennessee senator authored an op-ed on the need to legalize medical cannabis.

Vermont officials are investigating the theft of a hemp  farmer’s entire crop.

Oregon regulators published guidance for marijuana businesses affected by natural disasters.

Virginia regulators promoted a Virtual Hemp Field Day hosted by Virginia Tech.

Washington State regulators are holding marijuana social equity events this month and next month.

Canada’s public safety minister said people who are addicted to drugs should not be dealt with by the criminal justice system, but he’s refusing to endorse decriminalization.

Jamaican officials highlighted their efforts to facilitate imports and exports of marijuana products and to increase cannabis businesses’ access to banking services.

Australian officials published an interim decision endorsing allowing over-the-counter sales of CBD products.

A review concluded that “preclinical and clinical data suggest a potential for therapeutic benefit among some persons with [autism spectrum disorder] and that it is overall well tolerated.”
