The Future of Tokeativity: Member Summer Survey Results!
Lisa posted a blog entry in Tokeativity HQ Blog
Tokeativity members are a bad ass community of movers and shakers in all different stages of personal and professional development within the plant medicine and feminist movements around the globe. We have found each other because we see the vision of what a different world could look like and we want to make that vision a reality. Here at Tokeativity HQ, it is a top priority to hear the needs of the community and create spaces for forward momentum, where everyone can connect, create and learn. Together, we are the movement and collaboration is essential! We survey our members twice a year to get feedback on the direction of our efforts and we are so excited to share with you what the feedback was from our Summer 2021 Survey! Check out the results from the first survey that was sent in December of 2020 here and keep reading below for the most recent findings! We know that CONNECTION is a core need of all humans and during this pivotal time in herstory, Tokeativity is working hard to support the connection of our members. As stated in our Womanifesto, we envision a world in which the cannabis, psychedelic and intersectional feminist movements heal our communities and our Earth and there is a thriving, supportive community for all cannabis loving women to know one another. .fusion-button.button-1 {border-radius:0px;} Download the Tokeativity Summer 2021 Member Survey Report >> http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/1.jpg http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/2.jpghttp://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/3.jpg http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/4.jpg http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/5.jpg http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/6.jpg http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/7.jpg http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/8.jpg .fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-0{width:100% !important;margin-top : 0px;margin-bottom : 0px;}.fusion-builder-column-0 > .fusion-column-wrapper {padding-top : 0px !important;padding-right : 0px !important;margin-right : 1.92%;padding-bottom : 0px !important;padding-left : 0px !important;margin-left : 1.92%;}@media only screen and (max-width:1024px) {.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-0{width:100% !important;}.fusion-builder-column-0 > .fusion-column-wrapper {margin-right : 1.92%;margin-left : 1.92%;}}@media only screen and (max-width:640px) {.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-0{width:100% !important;}.fusion-builder-column-0 > .fusion-column-wrapper {margin-right : 1.92%;margin-left : 1.92%;}} .fusion-body .fusion-flex-container.fusion-builder-row-1{ padding-top : 0px;margin-top : 0px;padding-right : 0px;padding-bottom : 0px;margin-bottom : 0px;padding-left : 0px;} The post The Future of Tokeativity: Member Summer Survey Results! appeared first on Tokeativity®. By Chiara Juster http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/4.png Tokeativity is the global cannabis feminist community, you’d be hard pressed to find a member who isn’t close friends with a cannabis consuming mama if they aren’t one themself. This story is about a Canna Mama and her partner who are in need some support – please take action below! Maria (Juanita Maria Kinsey) is a cannamama like so many of us. Maria grew up in Florida, a place as different from the PNW & Northern California as one can imagine. As a seventeen-year-old Maria had a daughter, like many kids that age the allure of her friends and their fast Florida lifestyle prevented her from being the parent her family would have preferred. Her family made the decision to raise that child, the child of a child. She was still young and turned her life around heading west to the fabled lands of Mendocino. In Mendocino she found her soulmate. Colby Standley was a generational grower, the type of guy they only make in the mountains. She was in love. He was in love. The love that people only dream of. Colby & Maria grew a beautiful life together, and beautiful flower too. Maria saw firsthand how cannabis medicinally benefits people. She watched as those suffering from cancer were provided unspeakable relief. She made the moral decision to disseminate medication to those who were suffering free of charge. Not like anyone could charge much in Mendocino, cannabis was the biggest industry in the area. While the grey market evolved Maria & Colby remained compliant with guidance from the Sheriff. She grew to appreciate the quality of all things that enter her body, fruits & greens alike. http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Blog-Long-Images.png Maria suffered from secondary infertility. Colby and Maria longed for a baby, they tried and tried. Colby’s heart broke watching his wife repeatedly miscarry over eight long years as they struggled to grow their family. Though enchanted with the beauty of Mendocino Maria did not forget her family back in Florida. Her elderly grandmother required a home health aide which was incredibly expensive. She wanted to help her family. In Northern California cannabis grew like the weed it is, in less fortunate states the price of flower easily demanded five times what it did back West. An ill fated decision was made and flower diverted out of state. Maria and Colby loved their dogs, they had four dogs. Colby considered his parents his best friends, beside his wife, and left two dogs with his parents when he and Maria took an RV trip to Florida with the other two dogs and fifty pounds of Mendo flower in August 2017. While Maria was out shopping in Tallahassee, Colby was relaxing at the RV with the dogs when suddenly he was surrounded by heavily armed authorities, his first thought was for his dogs as he pleaded for them not to be shot. The dogs were hauled away to the pound and Colby to jail. When Maria went to bail him out she was taken into custody. Fortunately, Maria’s daughter from her teens was now an adult and rushed to successfully rescue the dogs. http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/3.png Maria and Colby were allowed to return to California while on bail. The requirements were very restrictive including drug testing twice a week which could only be conducted 120 miles from where they lived at the cost of $240 a week. This was a huge burden both logistically and financially. They were unable to comply with the restrictions and bond was rescinded. In March of 2018 Colby turned himself in, unable to comply with the burdensome restrictions. Three weeks later Maria found out she was expecting. At last!! This excitement never dissipated though she was taken into custody a month after her husband. Maria gave birth behind bars November 27, 2018. She was shackled as she was transported from jail to the hospital. When people give birth while incarcerated their families are not informed. Maria had an amazing older brother, he and his wife, themselves doting grandparents, eagerly anticipated the birth of this child that they would lovingly welcome into their home. They knew the time had come when they didn’t hear from Maria. The absence of the daily call sent a message louder than any voice could. They waited three long days before receiving a call from the hospital that Maria had given birth and was transported back to jail, and that Rainbow (her real name shall remain anonymous per request of her guardians) was waiting for them to take her home. Maria had been lucky in a way that parents on the outside would never deem as lucky, she had a cesarean section meaning that she was able to stay with her baby for those three too short days instead of having her newborn ripped from her arms that very day. When Maria’s brother and sister-in-law arrived at the hospital they were overwhelmed with how kind everyone was, it was unanticipated and over the top. He asked why everyone was being so nice and was hit with a sad truth. Most babies weren’t as lucky as little Rainbow, having a loving family to take her in set her apart for the vast majority of babies that were born to the incarcerated and the hospital staff was filled with joy knowing that this baby was loved. It wasn’t until sentencing, in May, 2019, that Colby laid eyes upon his daughter for the first time and Maria saw her for the second time. Their attorney advised them that a sympathetic substitute judge was on the bench that day who would likely make them an offer better than they would see again, well below what the prosecutor was offering and far below the 75 years they were facing had they been convicted at trial on charges of cannabis trafficking, conspiracy to traffic, and using the RV to traffic . This Judge, true to their attorney’s words, offered Maria 6 years 3 months and 2 weeks, Colby received one less year due to his clean record. http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/1-1.png Today Maria and Colby sit behind bars longing for the day that they will be reunited with one another and their little Rainbow. Maria’s first daughter as well as her brother and sister-in-law regularly bring the now toddler to visit her parents. “That’s mommy’s house,” the child cries out with glee when they approach the institution. Mommy and daddy aren’t allowed any communication given that they were co-defendants, yet their love continues to grow. Maria has taken her time behind bars to better herself as best she can. She formally studies horticulture– the food they grow is for staff not inmates. One of the things that Colby has always loved about Maria is that she isn’t vain, makeup isn’t her thing, but taking care of her body is important to her. Sunblock isn’t provided behind bars. Laboring in the Florida sun takes its toll on one’s skin. One of the things she uses her scarce commissary funds on is sunblock. As someone who appreciates sungrown food she laments what counts as food behind bars. For her recents birthday her friends made her a cake using crushed up commissary cookies mixed with creamer. A far cry from prior birthdays for the organic loving foodie who loves Thai food. As a dog lover Maria has been fortunate to participate in canine training. This gives her the opportunity to touch something warm and loving, though who she truly longs to hold is her little Rainbow. Colby was recently transferred to a community release program where he works in craft service– this doesn’t mean he gets even a morsel of extra food. As a guy who loves to cook (he admittedly loves to cook and clean!) he can’t wait for the opportunity to prepare meals for his own family. He has said that nothing is more gratifying than cooking a meal for his family and watching them enjoy it. True to the spirit of Tokeativity, Maria and her fellow inmates operate as a collective. The hygiene products provided to inmates aren’t the best for their skin and hair. There’s no shame in a little dandruff for which the inmates must spend $10.85 for a bottle of Head and Shoulders. Maria and her friends share shampoos, conditioners, lotions, and the like that they purchase at vastly inflated prices at the commissary. When there is an indigent female in their group they make sure she is included and suffers no further indginties for lack of funds. They all suffer enough as it is. When released before the winter holidays 2023 Maria will be reunited with her husband and child. Thanks to her brother there won’t be a custody battle. Most women who give birth behind bars face an uphill battle upon their release. Is it within the best interests of the child to return them to a mother in name only? Maria is the best mom that she can be while behind bars, she has always had constant communication with her daughter and is very much a part of the toddlers life. As a community we must come together and call attention to the fact that women continue to be arrested for cannabis. As mothers and daughters we have a moral obligation to ensure better conditions for those of us who are incarcerated including massive reform of the system that tears families apart and rips babies from their mothers arms. Maria will never be able to breastfeed her baby, Colby will never stay up nights changing diapers and soothing his baby, invaluable time has been lost. What we can do is let them know that they are not forgotten and help smooth the path for when they are released. Please consider supporting their Go Fund Me Incarcerated for Marijuana- Family Needs Help. Tonight when you tuck in your sweet one, or when you pass a child on the street, think of Rainbow and her parents who want nothing more than to be reunited. Candid Chronicle: “Cannabis, Social Media, and the Women Behind it” by Chelsea Smith
Lisa posted a blog entry in Tokeativity HQ Blog
Social media has become a platform for the legal cannabis industry to not only display their brands but create a community revolving around the plant. Women, in particular, have found success in promoting brands, educating, and taking followers from all over the world on a journey of cannabis legalization creating relationships with these fans. Through this, they have a global reach to make a change and are jumping at the opportunity. A quick search on any popular social media site will bring up everything from Women Cannabis Business Owners, to Women’s Veterans Support Groups all based around this beautiful http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/IMG_4719-640x300-300x141.jpgfemale plant. But its more than just a group on social media, these women are there to lift each other up by making connections, supporting businesses, and offering resources to other female-run organizations with a desire for everyone to succeed. It is a new level of compassion being brought to the table that allows for collaboration benefiting all parties involved. Groups like Women Grow, Tokativity, Women Leaders in Cannabis, Grow Sisters and Women & Weed are actively pursuing a change and equality in the legal cannabis industry. Using meetups, online classes, educational events, lobbying, and support groups they are being the voice of not only gender equality in the industry but also help break the stigma of the traditional “stoner”. Social Equity Policy Initiatives in Cannabis Are All the Buzz… by Allison Holmes http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/2-1024x576.png THE COMPLEXITIES OF SOCIAL EQUITY I started this project looking to make a list of “The Top 10 Equity Bills and Initiatives” being implemented around the country and quickly discovered that claims of equitable legislation live on a pretty broad spectrum. So what is equity, exactly, and how do we ensure it through policy? WHAT IS SOCIAL EQUITY Equitable cannabis policy acknowledges that historically persecuted populations have limited access to the knowledge, money, and support they need to successfully conduct business within the cannabis industry. Equity focuses on dividing resources proportionally to the needs of those involved in order to achieve a fair outcome, so any equitable program must provide a boost into the industry for people who may not have the same capital, connections, or education as their white, male, able-bodied counterparts. According to the Social Equity Legislation in Cannabis: A National Study of State and Local Programming, “less than ⅕ of cannabis business owners identify as being a person of color” and 100% of the respondents to this study said that state and local governments aren’t doing enough to change this. It’s not enough to simply expunge the records of folks who faced criminal charges for marijuana possession, while that is an important step, it leaves the rest of the staircase totally unaccounted for. Equitable drug policy means undoing the harms caused by the War on Drugs and offering direct and specific support to the people most impacted by marijuana prohibition, disproportionate arrests, and incarceration. Programs that aim to be equitable must include a pathway to prosperity that creates opportunities for Black, Latinx, Indigenous, Asian, Pacific Islander and other people of color who face economic marginalization and have been most profoundly impacted by the failed drug war. HOW EQUITY IS BEING LEGISLATED “Without considering real estate support, legal support, securing operating capital (without losing equity), normalization campaigns, and a focus on real community reinvestment, social equity programs will not be able to support economic development in disproportionately impacted communities.” – Timeka Drew, operating social equity license holder and seasoned cannabis industry executive Establishing equity through legislation requires a nuanced understanding and a truly holistic approach. It must account for access to funding, specialized licensing programs, ongoing training and professional support, and reinvestment into black and brown communities. Access to Capital The Social Equity Legislation in Cannabis: A National Study of State and Local Programming surveyed equity programs and operators about the barriers that prevent entry into the industry, “100% of the respondents said that access to capital was the biggest need and challenge.” The study goes on to say that access to fairly structured capital, in non-predatory form, is essential, ‘It is crucial that social equity applicants have access to start-up and ongoing funding… in order to survive.” Examples of funding include reducing or eliminating application fees, grants, low or no interest loans, free rent, and rent assistance. Licensing “”Equity applicants” are a very specific form of equitable policy that is supposed to be narrowly targeted toward ensuring the ownership of the legal industry includes those who have been disproportionately impacted. Because of crony capitalism making licenses very limited, we have to force the government to allow us to own our piece through the law, which mandates a certain number or % of licenses go to impacted people.”” – Jason Ortiz, Minority Cannabis Business Association There is no one single way to set eligibility for equity applicants, each state and locality devise different ways of determining specific eligibility requirements. Most legislation requires equity applicants to have long-term residency in certain zip codes that had high numbers of cannabis-related arrests, a maximum income, and to have had a cannabis-related conviction or arrest. Equity applicant eligibility should be specific and tailored to the context of the community in which it is being implemented. *** Don’t miss Timeka Drew’s talk about “How to Apply for an Equity Lisence” streaming live from the Pride & Equity Tokeativity Social happening on Saturday, June 12. RSVP for free today! Professional Support “Equity applicants are by definition impacted individuals who are often expected to have a level of business acumen that’s comparable to an MBA. If an equity applicant doesn’t have the resources to properly vet a predatory operating agreement or what it takes to stand up a business, then how are they supposed to have a shot at retaining any upside let alone open their doors?” – Hilary Yu with Our Academy It is imperative that programs provide equity applicants with direct support throughout the process of application and continued mentorship into business ownership. Examples include: professional support in navigating the application process, education on ownership rights to prevent exploitation, business coaching, mentorship, and ongoing access to training, and legal services. Community Reinvestment “The War on Drugs devastated communities by stealing opportunities connected to jobs, housing and education. Without projects and funding focused specifically on addressing these harms created by racist and classist policies, social equity programs will continue to fall short in connecting the dots between the wrongs created by the War on Drugs and the revolutionary concept of an industry that is invested in righting those wrongs.” – Timeka Drew, operating social equity license holder and seasoned cannabis industry executive Because the harms of the drug war have been so exhaustive and far-reaching, there is a great need for expansive and in-depth reinvestment into black and brown communities. Equity programs use their platform to ensure the reallocation of cannabis tax revenue be funneled into impacted communities in the form of direct investment. Funding for restorative justice, equal education, access to health care, affordable housing, and home ownership, etc… IMPACT AND RESPONSIBILITY White folks who have benefited from the use of cannabis or profited off of a legal cannabis market should be using their privilege to advocate for those most harmed by the War on Drugs. This is an opportunity to repair the damage that was done. Legalization cannot be equitable unless it starts off as equitable, the intention is to give the communities most impacted by prohibition a head start in an industry that will take off. Utilize our platforms and privilege to increase awareness, get involved politically, share generational wealth, invest in a support structure to help Black, Latinx, Indigenous, Asian, Pacific Islander and other people of color prosper in this community. CONCLUSION I’m writing this piece to leverage my whiteness and my access to social capital to encourage Tokeativity members to understand and support equitability within the cannabis industry as legalization sweeps across the United States. It’s important to acknowledge that cannabis equity legislation can only do so much; we must work together to create pathways to prosperity in all aspects of our society. It’s overdue, but I’m excited to see the cannabis-loving community upholding this conversation and doing something about it. The attention being paid to equity and the diligent activists of color refusing to settle for anything less has me feeling hopeful about the impact this industry will have in this world. So look into what’s happening in your state and in your community and get involved! I’ll end this piece with a reflective statement from the cofounder of The Social Impact Center, Kristen Lovell: “Social Equity is a struggle that may not ever be won, but must alway be fought for. There are 48,000 collateral consequences of a conviction. Simple things, like housing, employment, and voting rights are affected when an individual undergoes incarceration. Families are broken. Education is withheld. Neighborhoods terrorized. Black and brown bodies profiled. Lives change course forever. There might never be adequate reparation, but healing from the War on Drugs is a process we must all dedicate ourselves to if we wish to consider ourselves cannabis community members. You can be a colonist or a community member. A community member can not fight for licensing without expungement, or for banking without refunding recompension, or for taxation without community reinvestment.” – Kristen Lovell, long time cannabis activist and head of brand at Biko Flower The post Social Equity Policy Initiatives in Cannabis Are All the Buzz… But, What Defines Equitable Policy? appeared first on Tokeativity®. Article by: Talya Mayfield http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Grinder-tokeativity-talya-mayfield.pngI had the pleasure of attending Missouri’s Midwest Canna Conference and Expo in early august, and I think it’s safe to say Missouri women are creating their own path in this new, emerging market. I attended several sessions, but spent a fair amount of my time walking the expo floor to meet with Missouri’s Medical Marijuana industry pioneers. The first friendly face I found was that of Alexis Simmons of The Flower MIll USA. Alexis has reinvented the grinder by replacing the traditional metal on metal grinding device with a milling process that allows for uniform milling and fluffy results. I ran into another pair of Sally and Amy from the Trimmer Store. These ladies saw an opportunity in the post harvest sector of cannabis cultivation, and began renting processing equipment to cultivators throughout the state. The ladies of The Trimmer Store are evidence that the cannabis industry is just like any other. There are goods and services to be acquired and provided. If you’re wanting to be a part of this industry, you must find your niche, and jump in! For more information on the The Trimmer Store go to, https://www.thetrimmerstore.com. My key takeaways from the 2021, Midwest Canna Convention and Expo: Women in Missouri are dominating the ancillary cannabis business game! While I was hard pressed to find diversity amongst license facility operators, it is obvious that women in Missouri have figured out how to turn their past experience and practices into a necessary commodity in the cannabis industry. Social equity and diversity do not appear to have played a factor in determining who would be awarded state licensure. However, the market is young enough, and adult use rumors keep Missouri residents hopeful of an inclusive and equitable adult use market in 2022. There were multiple speakers, vendors and presenters from throughout the country which tells me that there are still opportunities for Missouri natives interested in getting into the industry, to find their role and take a seat at the table. .fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-8{width:100% !important;margin-top : 0px;margin-bottom : 0px;}.fusion-builder-column-8 > .fusion-column-wrapper {padding-top : 0px !important;padding-right : 0px !important;margin-right : 1.92%;padding-bottom : 0px !important;padding-left : 0px !important;margin-left : 1.92%;}@media only screen and (max-width:1024px) {.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-8{width:100% !important;}.fusion-builder-column-8 > .fusion-column-wrapper {margin-right : 1.92%;margin-left : 1.92%;}}@media only screen and (max-width:640px) {.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-8{width:100% !important;}.fusion-builder-column-8 > .fusion-column-wrapper {margin-right : 1.92%;margin-left : 1.92%;}} .fusion-body .fusion-flex-container.fusion-builder-row-7{ padding-top : 0px;margin-top : 0px;padding-right : 0px;padding-bottom : 0px;margin-bottom : 0px;padding-left : 0px;} The post Talya Mayfield visits the 2021 Midwest Canna Expo appeared first on Tokeativity®. Samantha Montanaro recognized as Top Influencer in Marketing & Advertising at Global Summit
Lisa posted a blog entry in Tokeativity HQ Blog
On June 30, 2021 our co-founder and CEO Samantha Montanaro accepted an award recognizing her contributions and social impact at the Marketing, Advertising and Retail Summit in Las Vegas. http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/2-300x300.png Here are some words from Samantha: What an absolute and humbling honor to be recognized as a Top Influencer in the Marketing & Advertising industry for social impact by the global Marketing, Advertising and Retail Summit in Las Vegas this week! My career in marketing and visual communications began when I was a teenager with a compelling pitch for my parents about why I needed Doc Martens. Let’s just say my first campaign was successful and I’ve carried on to be a passionate promoter, storyteller, mover and shaker for so many AMAZING things over the course of my life this far. Music, causes, events, businesses and products… This beautiful life is rich with important things for the community to know about. I care deeply about making the world a better place and I love sharing my stories and other’s stories of impactful experiences. It feels so special to be recognized for my contribution to shaping the future of community and culture as a woman in the cannabis industry. The plant medicine revolution is happening because people just want to feel good, and as marketers that is really what we do. I am a passionate light worker in an intense, dark world and I am so honored to feel so seen. I’m truly humbled and grateful. But, this work does not only belong to me… THANK YOU to my business partner, Lisa Snyder, for being on this life journey with me and for including me in your vision for Tokeativity and feminine liberation. This award, to me, feels like OUR award because for the last 5 years we have been in this together. We are just getting started and our vision for the world we want to see is happening! Thank you for creating with me – it’s truly a joy every single day. Thank you to my parents, Mike and Rhonda, my siblings, Niki, Byron and Julie, and my Gigi, Roberta, for always loving me in my truest, raw and wild form. Your support and encouragement for me to just be myself and shine bright is the reason I’ve felt confident enough to do everything I have this far. I was always the black sheep, but y’all loved me for my differences and celebrated my quirks. I’m eternally grateful. Thank you to the Tokeativiteam – Casey, Kia and Wendy, as well as the other leaders and contributors to our work – there are too many to name here, but y’all know who you are. Thank you to all of my amazing family, friends mentors and community for inspiring me to evolve and grow. I’m overflowing and am just going to bathe in it as I spend the next couple weeks in Northern Wisconsin with my family In humble gratitude, Samantha Montanaro The post Samantha Montanaro recognized as Top Influencer in Marketing & Advertising at Global Summit appeared first on Tokeativity®. Using locally sourced Organic, top shelf, DANK CBD-rich hemp flower, these blunts are hand rolled by Melody Wright (she/they), the Founder of Sway Blunts, with love. There is something to be said for a really good blunt, can you relate?! I mean, sometimes mama just needs a blunt break. But, these days many of us cannabis consumers are not keen on the idea of smoking tobacco for a number of well known reasons. Also, high doses of THC are not ideal for all situations or body types of consumers. This is where Hemp Blunts come to the rescue! Sway has a range of products to suit any smoker’s delight! I am smoking my first Pinner as I write this and I must say, DAYYUUUMMMM. When you slide the beautiful, little clever matchbox open (where you get 10 little 1/3g CBD blunts that smell like heaven) you know you are about to take the edge off… the Sway way! The matches right there make this pack super convenient for keeping in your purse or in your stash bag. High quality and hand rolled, the blunts taste freaking amazing, burn slow and smooth and make you feel so relaxed. Lick your lips after taking a few pulls and enjoy the burst of flavonoids from the infused hemp papers. http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/2.png http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/3.png http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/6.png Melody started Sway with passion, an amazing product and extensive knowledge in cannabis. Not long after entering the recreational cannabis space in 2018, Melody found herself unsure as to if they could persevere past the high barriers to entry, especially for her as a black, queer female. With the help of their team, community members and other women’s support, Sway moved into Tillamook Station, where they share an amazing space with Barbari Herbals to form the most badass co-op of plant rolling babes in the craft herbal smoke sector of the emerging cannabis industry! When I talked with Melody and CEO Sonia Fay Stolfo about what they are pumped about at Sway, my own excitement for this plant was ignited. Sway is inspired by the changing laws around cannabis and CBD and believes in supporting female and BIPOC owned businesses to help all boats rise with the tides. They are excited about the future of cannabis and how the industry sophistication is improving. CBG and Delta-8-THC are exciting new cannabinoids starting to make their way into consumer products and we can look forward to innovation staying with Sway as they grow. Cannabis consumption and the ability to consume with others in a social setting is a foundation of how Sway was founded and they would love to one day open an on-site consumption lounge. If Oregon’s 2021 Cannabis Equity Act, HB 3112 passes they may just be able to do just that. This bill is the most comprehensive, holistic approach to cannabis equity in the United States ever introduced and focuses on widespread reinvestment in the communities that have been hurt most by cannabis prohibition and the War on Drugs. Something we can all get behind! http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/5.png http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/4.png http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/7.png As the cannabis industry continues to evolve, we at Tokeativity are excited to see companies like Sway Blunts not only survive, but thrive. The craft cannabis market is just beginning! As consumers get access to education about the widely diverse cannabis plant, THC, CBD and other cannabinoids as well as the ways to consume we hope to see more innovative products like these Sway blunts…because, you know, sometimes mama just needs a blunt break. Tonic CBD, A 100% Woman-Owned CBD Company, is Showing How Cannabis Can Change the World
Lisa posted a blog entry in Tokeativity HQ Blog
So, we want to change the world, right? Yes. We do. This shit is hard no matter who you are. Add any number of layers of oppression and trauma (non-male gendered, black or brown skin, socioeconomic background, any kind of abuse, I can go on and on...) and chances are you are fed up with, well, everything. The War on Drugs actively harmed (and continues to harm) marginalized communities and people of color are still more likely to get convicted of cannabis related crimes today. TODAY: Amazon is actively supporting legalization, celebrities own cannabis brands, wealthy white male investors are actively investing hundreds of millions of dollars into more white male owned and operated business because "they see themselves" in those owners and in one state you can grow, consume and sell cannabis legally and in the state next door you can go to prison and lose your children. And then we have our oh-so-imperfect modality of Health Care. I could go on for days about how our health care system misses the whole mind, body and spirit connection and, in turn, is not helping anyone actually BE WELL. It is frustrating to have doctors completely out of touch with plant medicine and its amazing connection and relationship to us as a species. We need whole wellness to heal ourselves. The drain humanity has on our planet is going to reach critical mass in the next 50 years. The number of natural disasters is on the climb because our planet is suffering from the insatiable greed humans are known for. Climate change is real, as I write this from the soon-to-be totally on fire west coast of the US. The reality of all of this is almost laughable. Almost... But no fear, ya'll! Despite the scary truths of modern society, I am a confidently realistic optimist thanks to tools like meditation, music, community, dance, laughter and cannabis companies like TONIC. Oh my YES, TONIC! Hot damn, I love these amazing CBD products! http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/3-300x300.pnghttp://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Toke-Biz-Buzz-1-300x300.png Our global systems need to work well for all cohabiting here and women like Brittany Carbone are leading the way with innovative, intentional, equitable and ethical brands that are shaping the future of what sustainable business looks like. TONIC is one of three woman owned and operated companies that work together to make magic. Carbone co-founded Tricolla Farms, an upstate New York based hemp farm, in conjunction with the TONIC product line in 2017, and just added Bardo Labs to their portfolio in 2020. These 3 entities collectively form a sustainable, craft, quality-and-access-driven hemp supply chain rooted in their love for the plant, the people who consume it and the earth that provides it. Brittany recalled the moment when she realized that her cannabis company could actively help change the world. "I experienced first hand not only the hypocrisy and backwards nature of doctors pushing pills over plants, but also the privilege around consuming as a middle-upper class white woman. When I found cannabis in high school it clicked. I dealt with depression pretty much my whole life and cannabis was something that finally made me feel “normal” but the misinformation and stigma around the plant caused every authority figure in my life to tell me I was wrong and I was eventually subjected to bi weekly drug testing formTHC while being prescribed Xanax. I began to abuse Xanax and came to the realization this shit was fucked up; I was much better off smoking weed than taking these pills, but that didn’t matter because the doctors were saying to take the pills. It cut me deep that this was the reality that so many people were living. Then, in college, I got arrested for smoking weed in my dorm room. Because my parents were able to pay for me to have a lawyer, take my day in court, and pay the $2750 fee to enter an expungement program that consisted of 1 year probation and 1 day of community service, I was able to have my record cleared and not carry that incident with me as I entered the workforce, etc. I realized that there were a lot of kids that, if put in that position, would not have the same outcome. I witnessed my Black friends have a much greater fear of getting caught by the cops than my white friends. http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/5-1024x1024.pngTricolla Farms, upstate New York The year after I started TONIC, I was part of a panel at an event called Breaking the Grass Ceiling, put on by Humble Bloom and Maya Shaw, and that was the first time the big picture of racial inequality and oppression around the plant was truly internalized. It was through the conversations at that event that I was able to put this all together - all of these pieces of ideas and feelings that were already in me where being put together; I could see how it all fit and I could see my place in it all. A few months later I started TONIC’s Purpose Program, pledging to donate a portion of our revenue each month to a different nonprofit partner dedicated to supporting communities who need our support. We have donated over $50k since the program’s start. At Bardo, we work to lower the financial barrier to entry and offer up our resources unconditionally to BIPOC brands to help promote and nurture more representation on the ownership level and ensure that the communities most harmed by the war on drugs have equity and opportunity in the hemp/cannabis industry." Carbone's products speak for themselves. She created them for herself and her healing, and in turn are healing others. TONIC uses other beneficial plant medicines like Ashwagandha to assist in the optimal effects. These products provide targeted results to help you tune your frequency to be in harmony with nature, with yourself. TONIC truly sets the bar high for quality and effect and is a brand you can feel good supporting. http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/4-1024x1024.pngRenewal Face and Body Oil Companies like Tonic CBD are showing us just how cannabis can change the world by being grounded in practices and ethos that keep people, plant, planet in mind as well as profits. I used to be a Wine Mom… Until I Replaced Wine with Drinkable CBD

I used to be a Wine Mom… Until I Replaced Wine with Drinkable CBD By Samantha Montanaro http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/2-2-1024x1024.png If you are anything like me you have been drinking alcohol more often during the pandemic. I know many of you are like me, in fact, because numerous studies have shown that middle aged women have had the most dramatic increase in alcohol consumption during pandemic times in comparison to any other demographic. We know why – this shit is stressful! Life was already stressful for parents who are juggling kids, careers, homes, friends and everything else. Add uncertain pandemic times to that mix and we are all one mishap away from a total breakdown. My (conservative, non cannabis consuming) neighbor told me the other day that she was cracking a bottle of wine at noon nearly everyday simply to deal with parenting two kids under the age of 7, schooling and working from home all at the same time. She also spoke to how crappy and stressed she feels and how it is not helping anything…. but she is desperate for relief every single day. Drinking is so ingrained in the fabric of our society, it is hard to imagine our lives without it. It was my pure pleasure to give her a couple bottles of my not-so-secret weapon to productivity, health, relaxation, joy and sanity: Danodan, a USDA Certified Organic, water soluble CBD elixir and ZV Botanicals CBD Bitters (organic, 100% woman owned) to add to any drink of her choice. Have your cake and eat it too, sister friend! Refreshing, relaxing cocktails without hangover, inflammation and all of the other negative side effects of alcohol. Pinch me! http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/3-1-300x300.png I love drinking delicious things and I know so many other people who do too! I am so incredibly stoked about CBD cocktails for this reason! I don’t have to stop drinking altogether – I am just changing what it is that I am drinking. Here is my go-to recipe for a CBD cocktail that has endless possibilities: http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/4-1-1024x1024.png I AM OBSESSED WITH THESE COCKTAILS! And my body, mind and spirit are thanking me for it! Cannabis asks us to take our healing into our own hands. Cannabis asks us to listen deeper to what our body and spirit is telling us. Cannabis is gentle and loving to our bodies and that is something that any mom can get behind! No payment was exchanged for this promotion, ya’ll. I really just love these products that much. They are changing my life and I am excited to watch companies like ZV Botanicals and Danodan innovate consumption for future generations! Some personal words shared with you from the Tokeativity Headquarters women: http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Samantha-Montanaro-Rainbows-Tokeativity-400x500.jpg“On top of the 2020 pandemic, for me, the last year also included a freak accident that lead to a small stroke and awful brain injury, a divorce from my partner of 13 years, moving multiple times and having my business of 6 years, Prism House, move out of a space we worked so hard to get and had just spent 4 months renovating. Being a mom and running a global business amidst all of these challenging situations was, to date, the hardest thing I have ever done. And you know what? I am leaving 2020 feeling nothing but overwhelmed with gratitude, excitement, inner peace and sheer awe of how beautiful and amazing the Tokeativity and greater cannabis community is. In a time where we all felt so isolated at home, I still made connections with some of the most bad ass, inspiring women I have ever met, thanks to our digital events. Lisa and my business partnership and friendship just got EVEN stronger, after countless major challenges over the last 4 years together at Tokeativity. The Tokeativity HQ Team solidified and feels the strongest it has ever been. Lisa, Casey, Wendy and Kia held me up when I needed it most and this year we broke through levels upon levels of ceilings together, within our company and each of us individually. Tokeativity rolled up 2020 into a big fatty and smoked it so good, all together with thousands of people from around the world who are FEELING THIS SHIFT into a better way of existing in harmony. We can do ANYTHING together.” – Samantha Montanaro http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Lisa-Snyder-Smoking-Tokeativity-400x489.jpg“2020 has been quite the leap year for us all. A year of immense growth in many facets of our lives. Over the last 4 years, we have had to pivot hundreds of times, and this year was no different. Our year started out celebrating Tokeativity’s 3rd birthday in January and launching our first community event for all on leap year. After picking up my Cultivation Classic judging kit on March 1, a friend and Tokeativity community member was telling me that she had to travel and how nervous she was because of “The Corona Virus”. This was the first time I was hearing about this, which caused me to go on a deep research dive. I knew it was serious and had to inform our team that in person events were probably a thing of the past and that we needed to pivot 100% to digital events. Like most, the initial shock was real, but with 2 years of online events under our belt, this direction was an accessible adjustment. The last 9 months, I’ve lead our collective team through an events metamorphosis into the digital. The shift allowed us to deepen our connection with our community more than ever before. We hosted 74 (!) online events after our last in person events on February 29th. We leaned into anti-racism work, launching our “Bridges” events series collaboration with MsKindness Ramirez, assisted in the legalization of psilocybin assisted therapy in Oregon with the Measure 109 campaign, partnered with PAX to host events that celebrate artists of color and their incredible cannabis vaporizers, a global conference for women in plant medicine with 63 speakers from around the world with Women Empowered in Cannabis, increased our membership by 20%, and crossed the 55,000 threshold of our extended global network. We did all this with an incredible team of 5 bad ass women, dedicated to this important normalization work, who stayed steadfast and grounded in pandemic shifts, juggling life challenges including navigating homeschooling children, holding down multiple jobs, long hours on the computer, mental and physical well being, outside dramas, divorce, devastating Oregon fires, a country on the brink of tyranny, nationwide protests, and a Portland invasion by militarized federal law enforcement, all 100% self funded and driven with heart. If we can get through this year, we can get through anything. And so can you! Looking forward to seeing what we can do in 2021 together.” – Lisa Snyder http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Kia-Delware-Tokeativity-400x593.jpeg“Holy FUCK this year has felt like 10 years condensed into one. This pandemic has and continues to change us all, so it’s necessary to take stock of the wins and the lessons this year has bestowed upon us. Professionally, I am proud of the amount of skillset growth I’ve been able to amass in such a small amount of time. This is due in part to the incredibly supportive and empowering Women at Tokeativity HQ. Personally, I stayed true to my resolution of being more creative…and it landed me a job: Chief Creative Officer of Tokeativity! For myself, key 2020 takeaways/themes are 1.) A deeper understanding of nuance–and making sure that there is room left for it. 2.) Accepting the duality and resiliency of our existence. It’s really helped me to slow down and cherish the highs, and find meaning in the lows. 3.) For accelerated growth, you need a safe place to make mistakes…and you need to get real good at being bad before you are to become any better. 4.) Imposter Syndrome is real. Remember who YOU are deep down and stay true to that.” – Kia Delaware http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Wendy-Mintey-Tokeativity-400x533.jpg“Reflecting on 2020 there has been SO much – this year began with one of the hardest things I’ve ever gone through, which then gave way to one of the hardest things, we all as a collective have likely ever gone through. To say 2020 has been rough would be an understatement – and we all know that.. but 2020 has also been a beautiful awakening, albeit beauty like that of an intense storm. -When the whole world stayed home for a moment, the earth was able to breathe and take a moment to heal. -We all were forced into taking some time to slow down, to reflect and to connect with ourselves – for some, maybe for the first time. -Though we were all so disconnected from each other in the physical – I found that I became more connected than ever, checking in on those I didn’t ‘have the time’ to connect with, making it a point to facetime with friends and loved ones regularly, interact in the digital space and network with people across the globe, and just genuinely love on people because we all need that right now. -A collective awakening of consciousness has begun, and the awakening of human decency is coming around. -2020 may very well be marked in history forever as the year the revolution began, and we are a part of that! -It has forced me to level up in ways I likely wouldn’t have otherwise, both personally and professionally. Forcing innovation, creativity and emotional endurance as much as learning to rethink, to slow down and to be gentle on myself and others. This year has truly been a reckoning, for so many of us and in many different ways.. my hope is that we can all find some silver linings from this year amongst the loss, destruction and chaos and look to 2021 knowing that we are resiliant as fuck and all have within us the power to create our realities, despite what the world throws at us.” – Wendy Mintey http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Casey-Wiser-Tokeativity-400x533.jpeg “Here we are at the end of the most trying year of my life and maybe yours too, 2020. Half through this year I could never have predicted I would be feeling more energized than before. After closing doors to a place we worked tirelessly for I can honestly say that Tokeativity is stronger after having the rug ripped out from under our feet. I am so proud of our team and our ability to not only pivot into the online event space but thrive in it! We could have never done it with you, our badass community members. Thank you for all your encouragement, guidance and commitment to Tokeativity. On a personal level, I wasn’t sure how we would all handle quarantine as a family but I can honestly say it went by a lot faster than I thought it would and we’re coming out closer and more appreciative of each other. I’ve always felt lucky to have Twins but this year it especially paid off, my boys are truly best friends and it shows. (It’s also helpful having kids in the same class with all this new digital learning.) I’ve learned a lot as a mother this year and will cherish these extra hours we’ve spent together, every single messy beautifully chaotic moment. Our villages we’re spread out this year and that was painful but I am forever grateful for technology bringing us together for family time. I know we’ll all be back to big parties, events and family gatherings in due time, but until then – take care of yourselves and others.” – Casey Wiser The post Rollin’ Up 2020 appeared first on The Global Feminist Community. The Future is 1:1: – Anonymous Stories Have you experienced an uncomfortable interaction or been witness to one? Did someone grab your ass? Talk to you in a way you found demeaning or embarrassing as a woman? Did you wish you could have said something or done something different? Do you wish someone else spoke up for you? We’re curating stories from women across the world who have had an uncomfortable interaction with another person. We’re specifically looking for stories interacting with MEN. We would like to know the short version of what happened and what you wish would have been different – do you wish someone spoke up for you? Do you wish you would have felt comfortable enough to say “I don’t appreciate you grabbing by ass at work” or “don’t call me girl, I am a woman.”, etc? We will be reading some anonymous stories and solutions from our community about your experiences. You can be from ANYWHERE in the world. Any country, state or city. Recreational, medical or black market. What we need from you: 1. Send us an anonymous statement (3-5 sentences) about an experience you had out in the world you wished either didn’t happen or wished you would have been able to do something in the moment. We will be reading some of them aloud at our event, THE FUTURE IS 1:1 we are curating in Portland, OR on Sat Feb 2nd. In order to focus on your truth and experience fully, please refrain from including names of businesses and individuals in the statements. 2. Send us a 2-3 sentences of how that experience could have been different for you or what you wish you would have said or done differently. How could that situation been avoided? What do you want people to know? The Future is 1:1 What happened...*Please keep individual names and companies out of the statement. What I wish actually happened...* Currently Working in* The Recreational Market The Medical Market The Black Market 100% OPTIONAL: Your Current City & State City State / Province / Region 100% OPTIONAL: Email100% optional. 5 States with *Actually Equitable* Cannabis Social Equity Policy Initiatives
Lisa posted a blog entry in Tokeativity HQ Blog
http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Actually-Equitable-Policies-Tokeativity-Allison-Holmes-Nickia-Delaware.png by Allison Holmes I started this project looking to make a list of “The Top Equity Bills and Initiatives” being implemented around the country and quickly discovered that claims of equitable legislation live on a pretty broad spectrum. So what is it and how do we ensure it through policy? Is just expungement enough to be considered equitable? I ended up writing this piece on What Defines Social Equity where we did a deeper dive into this issue. Now that we know what equitable policy can really look like, I compiled this list of 5 states who have initiatives in motion that are actually equitable. It is essential that we rally support around these measures! Check it out and TAKE ACTION! Connecticut Medical Marijuana has been legal in Connecticut since 2012. This year there are two bills that would legalize an adult use market, SB888 and HB6377. SB888 was proposed by the governor, but the bill has been highly criticized by the community and equity activists. In response, HB6377 has been introduced by Connecticut United for Reform and Equity (CURE) and Chairwoman Robyn Porter in order to provide a more equitable approach to legalizing adult use cannabis in the state. HB6377 Sponsored by Robyn Porter and CURE “Pipeline to Prosperity” – funding for Modern Cannabis Workforce Development Early registration for equity license applicants Funding for low-interest business loans Labor peace agreements – choice of joining a union for all cannabis workers Equity Task Force – to assess the most effective strategies for community reinvestment Partners with the University of Connecticut for ongoing business support for equity applicants Massachusetts The state of Massachusetts has had a legalized market for adult use cannabis since the end 2016 and has been making strides toward equitability ever since. The Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission created the Social Equity Program in 2018 to provide technical assistance and education for those most impacted by the War on Drugs. The commission also implemented the Economic Empowerment Priority Program, which gave licensing priority to Social Equity applicants. Currently, there is a bill in the state house (HB 178) that seeks to reallocate cannabis tax revenue into the Cannabis Community Empowerment Fund to provide direct access to capital for Social Equity Applicants. Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission Social Equity Program provides free technical assistance and education for its participants Economic Empowerment Priority Program gives priority to eligible applicants provides financial support in the form of fee reduction and waivers House Bill 178 Equitable Empowerment of Minority-Owned Business… Cannabis Community Empowerment Fund – offers low or no interest loans to eligible businesses including Social Equity and Economic Empowerment Applicants Requires the state transfer $10 million from the Marijuana Regulation Fund to the Cannabis Community Empowerment Fund by Oct. 1, 2021 New York New York just enacted an adult use cannabis law which will be fully realized in the next year or so. The state gained national attention for including social equity in its original legislation. As New York moves toward the implementation of cannabis legalization, here’s what social equity efforts we should expect to see: Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act Set a goal to award 50% of licenses to social equity applicants Financial support to social equity applicants Low or no interest loans, fee reductions or waivers Professional assistance provided in application process, and continued support into business operation 40% of tax revenues generated by adult use sales to be reinvested into communities impacted by the War on Drugs Oregon The state of Oregon has had a legalized market for adult use cannabis since 2015. Activists have been working to legislate equity into the market ever since. Currently there is a bill in the house (HB 3112) that would provide a structure for social equity to be implemented. HB 3112 The Oregon Equity Investment Act Calls for cannabis tax revenues to provide for direct investment in the form of home ownership, health care, and expungement of marijuana related charges Creation of equity licenses to support BIPOC cannabis business owners On-premises consumption for equity licensees only, for ten years Delivery licenses for equity licensees only, for ten years Capital and technical support License fee reductions Faster processing of equity licenses California’s Decentralized Approach The California Cannabis Equity Act of 2018 allocated funding for cities and counties to develop and operate cannabis equity programs. Within California there are many different approaches being taken, each one tailored to fit the context of the specific community. Oakland has been a local stand out in implementing a functional social equity process. Oakland Cannabis Equity Program Equity Permit Program Incubator program – general applicants providing equity applicants with funding and property, incubator receives permitting priority over other general applicants “By reserving permits for equity applicants and incentivizing general applicants to support equity program participants, Oakland’s program has succeeded in increasing the number of cannabis entrepreneurs of color in the city.” (Social Equity Legislation in Cannabis: A National Study…) Workforce Development Grant Program – designed to recruit, train, and employ individuals impacted by the drug war Collaboration with Supernova Women – aims to provide avenues for individuals to benefit from the cannabis industry outside of business ownership Join us at the Pride and Equity Tokeativity Social on Saturday, June 12 from 2-6pm PST for a “digital beehive of activities” including discussions and panels on important topics like Social Equity in Cannabis. For folks those of us living in Missouri, the November 2018 election will always mark a historical event. It was then that Article XIV of Missouri was amended to allow patients of the state of Missouri access medical Cannabis. By early spring of 2019, the MOCANN BIZCON Expo by Midwest Canna Expos, was held at Union Station in St. Louis, MO. This first of its kind convention and expo provided future patients and industry hopefuls the opportunity to connect with vendors as well as gain firsthand information on the emerging industry. Flash forward to 2021 when a fellow Tokeativity member, Leah Maurer, introduced me to Karin Chester-Spinks. http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Tokeativity-Midwest-Canna-Expos-Karin-Chester-Spinks.pngKarin Chester-Spinks I found out that Karin was the woman behind Missouri’s first ever Cannabis Convention and Expo. I jumped at the opportunity to meet this woman that put on one of the most impactful and empowering events I’d ever had the opportunity to attend. We scheduled a 30-minute meet and greet; but two and a half hours later, I realized I had only scratched the surface on the impact Karin is having on the Missouri Medical Cannabis Industry. Karin played an integral role in the 2016 medical cannabis initiative in Missouri but was 200 signatures shy of getting the measure on the ballot. In 2018 Karin became the campaign coordinator for the ballot initiative that ultimately passed, allowing for medical cannabis to become legal in Missouri. It was during this time that Karin mastered the art of event planning and once Article XIV passed, it was a no-brainer that Karin needed to plan an event. I asked Karin what 5 things she was most excited about for this year’s upcoming expo on August 11 & 12, 2021: This year’s expo will be a hybrid event; held in person and virtually. Missouri Medical Patients will have the opportunity to attend the virtual patient track for free. We’re also pleased to announce the new addition of our industry career fair on August 12th. Network with potential employers, learn about the most prominent cannabis companies, and interact with others excited about this rapidly developing industry. This year attendees will receive demonstrations from Chef/ Chocolatier Christopher Elbow from The Funny Bone Chocolate out of Kansas City, MO. A career fair will be held at this year’s expo for a $25 fee. This includes a resume editing and distributing service at no additional cost! For the second year in a row, MOCANN BIZCON will hold the Greenway Industry Awards at the end of night one of the trade show. The Greenway Industry Awards recognizes those nominated and voted on by Greenway Magazine readers as being Leaders in Industry and Advocacy. http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Tokeativity-MOCANN.png http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Tokeativity-MOCANN-2.pnghttp://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Tokeativity-MOCANN-3.png In wrapping up our talk Karin shared that one of her favorite things about what she does is “being able to employ people”, and shared upcoming career opportunities within her organization. “We’re looking for Brand Ambassadors”….“I’m excited about Midwest Canna Demos. Missouri Canna Demos will be hosting pop up events at licensed facilities throughout the state.” Anyone interested in learning more about the position can go to: https://midwestcannademos.com/services For more information on MOCANN BIZCON Convention and Expo, Midwest Canna Expos, and Midwest Canna Demos, go to: https://mocannbizcon.com https://www.midwestcannaexpos.com https://www.facebook.com/MidwestCannaDemos https://www.instagram.com/midwestcannademos #MOCANNBIZCONN #MISSOURICANNABIS The post Top 5 Most Exciting Things to Look Forward to at the Missouri Cannabis Business Conference (MOCANN BIZCON) this August appeared first on Tokeativity®. Civilized: “Can Cannabis Actually Be a Feminist Industry?” by Diana-Ashley Krach
Lisa posted a blog entry in Tokeativity HQ Blog
Since the beginning of time, women have been at the forefront of cannabis: Egyptian women used cannabis-infused suppositories to ease childbirth and uterine pain, Persian women treated migraines in the ninth century, Margaret Mead told the US Senate it should be legal, and Maya Angelou extolled the virtues of the plant. Today, women are making music with cannabis plants, curating interactive canna-friendly art experiences, educating and advocating for responsible use as a parent, and creating professional resources for women entrepreneurs. As more states and countries legalize cannabis, women are finding new ways to innovate and collaborate. While this should seem exciting, the sad truth is that the percentage of women business ownership in the cannabis space is steadily declining. This month, we’re donating to Equitable Giving Circle with The Floret Coalition
Lisa posted a blog entry in Tokeativity HQ Blog
In July 2020, we joined The Floret Coalition, an anti-racist collective of small businesses in the cannabis and cannabis-adjacent space supporting and funding equity-oriented actions via monthly donations and social campaigns. Together, this collective raises funds and awareness for organizations prioritizing the needs of Black, Latinx, and Indigenous communities. To date, The Floret Coalition’s 135+ brand members have donated over $60,000 to organizations so far. “The wisdom and expertise of Black, Latinx, and Indigenous people are foundational to cannabis culture, yet they have been and continue to be disproportionately policed and punished for their participation in and contributions to it. Melanated communities bear the deepest scars of the misguided war on drugs. We can’t undo the past, but we must work diligently to ensure a fair and equitable future.” In March 2021, the coalition donated $10,470 to Soul Fire Farm, an Afro-Indigenous centered community farm committed to uprooting racism and seeding sovereignty in the food system. Their food sovereignty programs reach over 60,000 people each year, including farmer training for Black and Brown growers, reparations and land return initiatives for northeast farmers, food justice workshops for urban youth, home gardens for city-dwellers living under food apartheid, doorstep harvest delivery for food insecure households, and systems and policy education for public decision-makers. http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Equitable-Giving-Circle-Tokeativity.png This month, Tokeativity, along with other members of the Floret Coalition, are donating to Equitable Giving Circle,a community of people committed to creating peer-led, community-funded, transformational change. Their work aims to build immediate and increased equity throughout Portland’s BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) communities through a combination of fund development and network building opportunities that center economic equity. Currently, EGCs main initiative is feeding BIPOC community members with fresh weekly CSA boxes purchased from local BIPOC Farmers. If you want to become a part of The Floret Coalition’s efforts to give back to Black, Latinx, and Indigenous communities, getting in touch with Broccoli Mag. All across Oregon, women are taking leadership roles in the emerging cannabis industry http://tokeativity.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/caef12af-0c51-4f20-956c-91e434a3d66e-large16x9_TheFactory1-300x169.jpg Southern Oregon is well on its way to enjoying more of the legal cannabis lifestyle as new women-led and women-focused events encourage community, education, normalization and, of course, fun. Tokeativity, a Portland-based cannabis community for women that hosts everything from socials to business workshops, is expanding down to the Eugene area. Co-owners Lisa Snyder and Samantha Montanaro are launching the chapter June 1 and are working with the board of Women Leaders in Cannabis, a women-run, women-focused group led by Heidi Fikstad, owner of Moss Crossing, and Anna Kaplan, operations manager at Sugartop Buddery. “Southern Oregon will be our sister cities,” says Snyder, who is also the founder of Tokeativity. “We are excited to support and start branding outside of Portland.” The post MAIL TRIBUNE “Women and weed” by Liz Gold appeared first on Tokeativity® - The Global Feminist Community for Active Cannabis Culture. She felt like she was about to die. Enough was enough. Most adults have experienced a moment similar to this. That “AHA” moment where you realize that you, and only you, are going to make the change that needs to happen for your physical, emotional and spiritual health. That moment, for Andrea, wasn’t the usual and all-too-common-these-days “I have to stop drinking alcohol now” moment. This moment was loaded with many layers of choices that were about to affect Andrea’s business and her ability to provide for her family of four. This was complicated. Big Alcohol, after-all, was funding Andrea’s business and as the Creative Director for wine and beverage campaigns geared towards moms it was Andrea’s job to know and love that alcohol she was creating designs. “This really pissed me off. It really started to bother me that the messaging for these alcoholic beverages, targeted to women and mothers, was that as moms we couldn’t deal with it ourselves…that we need alcohol to manage the stress of parenting.” – Andrea Beaulieu In this compelling interview below, Tokeativity Co-Founder and CEO, Samantha Montanaro talks with Andrea about going from Wine Mom to Canna Mom, as well as how Andrea pivoted her creative agency, Studio Linear, from alcohol to Cannabis! As Cannabis is legalized and marketed to massive audiences of new consumers, innovative cannabis and CBD brands are re-defining the stoner stigma and changing the world with their beautiful imagery absent of tie dye, stoner bros and women in skimpy clothes. Andrea and her team at Studio Linear are on the cutting edge of futuristic, beautiful and clever Cannabis branding, design and content creation that is genuinely changing the way consumers feel about weed, CBD and the array of many products. “The future of cannabis branding is about a lifestyle. It will become so normal that we will start seeing incredibly packaged brands on the shelves of Target” – Andrea Beaulieu Packaging, advertisements, billboards – this imagery really does influence the way people feel about everything. Behavioral data is worth more than oil these days. Brands have incredible power over human behavior. Cannabis branding has so much power and Studio Linear is using this power for good. The self healing revolution is HERE and women like Andrea are leading the way. .fusion-gallery-1 .fusion-gallery-image {border:0px solid #f6f6f6;} Studio Linear is accepting new clients who are looking for design services for new brands (or an existing company rebrand), logos, package design, websites, social media content and more. Welcome to Adult Use, New York, New Mexico & Virginia!

More than 40 percent of Americans now live in states — 18 in total — that have embraced full legalization. Roughly two-thirds of Americans back legal weed, according to polls. .fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-2{width:50% !important;margin-top : 0px;margin-bottom : 20px;}.fusion-builder-column-2 > .fusion-column-wrapper {padding-top : 0px !important;padding-right : 0px !important;margin-right : 3.84%;padding-bottom : 0px !important;padding-left : 0px !important;margin-left : 3.84%;}@media only screen and (max-width:1024px) {.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-2{width:100% !important;order : 0;}.fusion-builder-column-2 > .fusion-column-wrapper {margin-right : 1.92%;margin-left : 1.92%;}}@media only screen and (max-width:640px) {.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-2{width:100% !important;order : 0;}.fusion-builder-column-2 > .fusion-column-wrapper {margin-right : 1.92%;margin-left : 1.92%;}} Virginia The state made history as the first in the Old South to approve a recreational legalization bill in February. But it also sparked sharp criticism from both legalization supporters and opponents by delaying implementation until 2024. Last Wednesday, Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam called on the legislature to speed up the legalization timeline, proposing amendments to allow possession and home cultivation starting July 1. New York After years of near-misses, New York legalized adult-use cannabis last week. Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed the “Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act” into law just hours after it cleared the Legislature. New Yorkers aged 21 and older can now legally possess and consume cannabis, but dispensaries are not expected to open until at least 2022 under the new regulatory structure. New Mexico New Mexico required a special session to get marijuana legalization legislation over the finish line after three years of trying, but both legislative chambers ultimately passed a bill last Wednesday. Debate over scrapping old marijuana-related convictions and caps on plant counts dominated discussions, and Republicans dug in their heels at the end of the regular legislative session — ultimately leading Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham to call the special session to address weed.
