ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP:

Big publishers, small presses, self-publishing, indie publishing… if you’ve written a book or are thinking about it, there are a lot of options out there vying for your attention (and money). Elly Blue, co-owner of Portland-based independent Microcosm Publishing will cut through the confusion, with an engaging talk about the current state and future of book publishing.

You’ll learn:
* How to navigate the publishing landscape
* The all-important art of title development
* The best way to pitch and sell your book to a publisher, agent, or readers

You’ll never look at a book the same way again. There’ll be plenty of opportunities for questions. No need to have a book or idea for one to attend, but if you do, please come prepared with a (timed!) 5-second pitch.

ABOUT ELLY BLUE

ABOUT PROJECT OBJECT:
A PROJECT THAT STANDS UP AGAINST ISSUES WE OBJECT TO.

There’s so much sorrow, pain, and injustice going on in the world. Now more than ever, we have the responsibility to stay informed and proactive. This includes giving back to the causes we care deeply about.

That is why a portion of the sales from Project Object goes towards Bradley Angle, a non-profit organization that places women and anyone experiencing-or at risk of- domestic violence with services that provide them with safety, education, empowerment, healing and hope. A portion will also fund our projects and fundraiser events that empower women and the community.

Our shop focuses on women, lgbtq, people of color, artists and designers works ranging from clothing, jewelry, home & paper goods, self care, zines, smokeware and ceramics by local Portland artists and people from across the country.  The space acts as a rotating pop-up gallery within the shop where we feature an artists work every few months along with a special wall with their own mural.
